On June 15 & 16, we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Gabriel Fauré, who died on November 4, 1924.
A remarkable French composer whose musical legacy remains immortal. The program includes among others his Requiem, which stands out among his many masterpieces. It is a moving composition that offers comfort and peace in the midst of pain and sadness. Similarly, John Williams' "A Prayer For Peace" reminds us that music has the power to comfort and heal us, even in the darkest hours.
As we mark the anniversary of Fauré’s death, the concert on June 15 will also be an opportunity to remember all those many innocent victims of war, whose suffering and loss are immeasurable. May this concert remind us that even in times of conflict and tragedy, the hope for peace and reconciliation never fades. May music connect us and inspire us to advocate for a world where the innocent victims of war are never forgotten and their memories live on in peace and harmony.
Furthermore, it is with sadness that we learned of the passing of Roby Schiertz this Sunday, May 12. He was the founder and honorary president of our choir, so we will dedicate our concert on June 16 to his memory.
